Open Air Market - After college I spent a Summer with a student group from all over the world learning about different cultures touring India, and was humbled by the beauty and complexity of the people I met. Men and Women were no permitted casual contact,yet I saw Barbers in Open Air Markets, depicted here, where I bught a yoghurt drink Sweet Lhasi, delicious and served in these little terra cotta pots, where, after we were finished, we were instructed to SMASH them in the gutter on the street! Not much plastic waste back then, and really fun! On the down side, we didn’t realise the ice in the Lhasi was made from unfiltered water, so a few of us got really sick with Giardia. Lesson Learned.
Profoundly changed by the experience, I no longer dress in muted tones, figuring if they’re allowed to live in vivid colors, then I would too.
