This drop-in gelli plate studio is designed as a low-pressure, open-ended creative session — a place to break a creative slump, experiment with new techniques, revisit old ideas, or just show up and make something without expectations.
Each session offers a loose focus or prompt to spark ideas, but there’s no formal lesson and no requirement to follow along. You’re free to explore at your own pace, ask questions, share discoveries, or work quietly if that’s what you need that day.
Gelli plates, stencils, acrylic paints, and a selection of printing papers will be provided. You’re also very welcome to bring your own materials if there’s a specific technique, surface, or idea you’d like to explore.

Deconstructing a Sunset (May 6th & 13th )
Sometimes the sky of a sunset can be hard to tackle because it’s hard to see all of the components. Traditionally, we blend colors to create our sky, but in this class, a deconstruction, we will purposely separate these components and use complementary colors to create a vibrant contrast. The nature of deconstructing a composition is a measured approach that forces us to focus our attention on shapes and color in a different way.
If you like to plan, be in control, or do not want to blend colors, this class is for you. You will have the option to transfer/trace all or part of your images and will paint in sections. We will discuss complementary colors and ways to create contrast as well as techniques that assist and allow us to improve our skills. It will take two classes for you to complete your piece
Painting on Black Canvas (Negative Space)
With a black canvas, instead of painting in the darks, we will let the dark canvas create the background and dark parts of the painting while painting in the colors. This requires us to shift our perspective. We will need a basic sketch ready before painting. For those with minimal drawing skills, there will be at least 4 images which can be transferred (mostly birds). Those with drawing skills are encouraged to complete a sketch on paper to transfer to the canvas.
Once we have our image, we will begin adding color.
Animal Patterns
Let’s play with color and pattern!! Tortoises and turtles have repeating patterns that make painting them fun and relaxing. Two templates will be provided to transfer the image onto your canvas (or you can draw your own).
The first class will involve the transfer of the image, selecting your color palette, and the simplest part of painting. This means painting the tortoise/turtle background and beginning the shell design. The second class will be the painting of the pattern where we add a variety of color. Each student can choose to use the examples as a guide or use their own imaginations.
All classes
At least four examples will be provided as well as techniques that assist and allow participants to improve their skills.
Group is limited to 6 students ages 14 and up.
Basic painting supplies will be included (palette knives, brushes and basic paint colors, and an 11x14 canvas).
Wear something that looks good with paint on it.
All of my classes are personalized so a student may repeat a class and get new instruction each time.
Life Drawing
We have live drawing from - 6:30 - 8:30! This event will be limited to 15 artists. Fee is ONLY $10. You are responsible for bringing your own art supplies. Model will be 6ft away on a pedestal.

Wheel Throwing for Beginners with Cath
If you’ve ever wanted to try wheel throwing but felt a bit intimidated, this is the class for you. We keep things small, relaxed, and genuinely supportive — no pressure, no rushing, just you, the wheel, and some very forgiving clay.
Over six weeks, each session gently builds your skills. You’ll learn the whole process step by step: how to prepare your clay so it behaves, how to center and shape your first forms, what the different drying stages mean (and how not to panic when things wobble), how to trim with confidence, and how glazing brings everything to life.
With a maximum of three students per class, you can bring a friend or family member to learn alongside you, or just enjoy the calm, personal attention without that ‘everyone is staring at my wobbly pot’ feeling.

During this class you will learn the different steps and stitches to make your own coasters and pot to continue making your own at home for any project.
Please bring: size H (5 mm) crochet hook and medium weight yarn (weight 4) in any colors for the pot, center of the coaster, stems of the flowers, and for the flowers. It can be bought at Michael’s, Hobby Lobby, or Amazon. The brand Big Twist at Michaels is a favorite of mine. About the instructor: Grace Klein is a 4th generation artist at Stella's who primarily creates fiber art including crochet, macrame, and rug tufting. She recently started teaching crochet classes at Stella's in the fall of 2025. Grace is currently in graduate school at Youngstown State University to become a school psychologist and she completed her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with minors in American Sign Language and Substance Misuse from the Ohio State University.

This small group instruction will introduce you to the skills needed to throw on the pottery wheel. In this 6-week series, we'll cover the basics of wheel throwing, including preparing the clay, centering, opening, throwing basic shapes, trimming, and glazing.
Perfect for absolute beginners or those with some experience who want a refresh.

During the class you will learn the different steps and stitches to make your own crochet square project and to continue making on your own at home. You will also learn how to read a visual pattern with handouts provided and visual demonstrations.

Alcohol Ink is a fun and innovative way to create with your imagination. You will learn different techniques to create lovely paintings. You will practice different methods before executing your masterpiece. The colors are vibrant and full of energy waiting to be sent into motion by your hand.
Dress accordingly for covering clothing or bring an old apron if desired.
All materials will be provided.
Disposable gloves will also be provided.

Let’s play with color and pattern!! Tortoises and turtles have repeating patterns that make painting them fun and relaxing. Two templates will be provided to transfer the image onto your canvas (or you can draw your own).
The first class will involve the transfer of the image, selecting your color palette, and the simplest part of painting. This means painting the tortoise/turtle background and beginning the shell design. The second class will be the painting of the pattern where we add a variety of color. Each student can choose to use the examples as a guide or use their own imaginations.

Sometimes the sky of a sunset can be hard to tackle because it’s hard to see all of the components. Traditionally, we blend colors to create our sky, but in this class, a deconstruction, we will purposely separate these components and use complementary colors to create a vibrant contrast. The nature of deconstructing a composition is a measured approach that forces us to focus our attention on shapes and color in a different way.
If you like to plan, be in control, or do not want to blend colors, this class is for you. You will have the option to transfer/trace all or part of your images and will paint in sections. We will discuss complementary colors and ways to create contrast as well as techniques that assist and allow us to improve our skills. It will take two classes for you to complete your piece

This means painting the tortoise/turtle background and beginning the shell design. The second class will be the painting of the pattern where we add a variety of color. Each student can choose to use the examples as a guide or use their own imaginations.

Kids Art Club for 1st - 8th grade with Carol and Nathan
Art club classes are open to students ages 6-12. They are held in the Stella's Classroom. Preregistration is required. Class are limited to 10 students and all supplies are included. Dress for mess! Students are encouraged to bring water and a light nut-free snack.

Each session offers a loose focus or prompt to spark ideas, but there’s no formal lesson and no requirement to follow along. You’re free to explore at your own pace, ask questions, share discoveries, or work quietly if that’s what you need that day.
Gelli plates, stencils, acrylic paints, and a selection of printing papers will be provided. You’re also very welcome to bring your own materials if there’s a specific technique, surface, or idea you’d like to explore.
This is a supportive, playful studio environment — suitable for beginners and experienced artists alike. Come to learn, experiment, reconnect with your creativity, or simply enjoy making art in good company.
The studio is open on the 2nd and 4th Friday of the month starting in June.
Alcohol Ink Painting with Pat Grace (Landscape)
Alcohol Ink is a fun and innovative way to create with your imagination. You will learn different techniques to create lovely paintings. You will practice different methods before executing your masterpiece. The colors are vibrant and full of energy waiting to be sent into motion by your hand.
Dress accordingly for covering clothing or bring an old apron if desired.
All materials will be provided.
Disposable gloves will also be provided.
No experience is necessary.
Time: 1-3:30pm
Life Drawing
We have live drawing from - 6:30 - 8:30! This event will be limited to 15 artists. Fee is ONLY $10. You are responsible for bringing your own art supplies. Model will be 6ft away on a pedestal.

Ceramic Handbuilding with Emily
In this six week class, hand-building techniques such as coiling and pinching will be taught so both new and returning students can develop their skills in ceramics.

Class dates: April 19, 26 & May 3, 17, 24,31
This small group instruction will introduce you to the skills needed to throw on the pottery wheel. In this 6-week series, we'll cover the basics of wheel throwing, including preparing the clay, centering, opening, throwing basic shapes, trimming, and glazing.
Perfect for absolute beginners or those with some experience who want a refresh.
Price includes use of the studio wheel and tools, the clay, firing, and glazing of your final artwork.
Acrylic painting with Michelle
We will be covering how to create depth in an acrylic painting by working in layers and glazing using acrylic mediums, acrylic paint & some additional embellishments to create a beautiful & unique galaxy painting.
NOTES:
This is a fun, but messy process, so please dress accordingly.
Paintings can be taken home after class.
