Session 2: glazing the pots to make them glossy & functional.
Adults only, for 1 or 2 people — great for a date for 2 or friends. This small class provides much personal guidance.

About the instructor:
Christine Siarka, has worked in clay off and on for about 15 years, almost exclusively hand building. She is currently a Stella’s Art Gallery member, creating luminarias & pinch pots for vases, planters and prayer bowls, in addition to other media. This method is very centering, grounding and fun. She has taught both adults and young people for over 20 years, in Ohio and Texas. She loves being a part of her students’ creative process. It brings much joy and peace.

Price includes use of the studio wheel and tools, the clay, firing, and glazing of your final artwork.
Participants will learn the fundamentals of painting. Beginning with drawing, under painting, glazing, and over painting highlights.
Canvas will be supplied.
Any basic oil set and brushes (some brushes will be available) are required to bring along with a photo to reference. A still life will also be set up for those with or without a photo reference.

Have you always wanted to learn to draw? Come and join Earl for this fun and easy basic drawing class. No experience needed. You will experience the excitement of drawing through learning special techniques in dimensional shading which will make the subject come alive. Drawing fundamentals will be explored through demonstrations and examples. Group and individualized instruction will be utilized in throughout these 5 weeks. Have fun while learning!

If you’ve ever wanted to try wheel throwing but felt a bit intimidated, this is the class for you. We keep things small, relaxed, and genuinely supportive — no pressure, no rushing, just you, the wheel, and some very forgiving clay.
Over six weeks, each session gently builds your skills. You’ll learn the whole process step by step: how to prepare your clay so it behaves, how to center and shape your first forms, what the different drying stages mean (and how not to panic when things wobble), how to trim with confidence, and how glazing brings everything to life.
With a maximum of three students per class, you can bring a friend or family member to learn alongside you, or just enjoy the calm, personal attention without that ‘everyone is staring at my wobbly pot’ feeling.
Coiling is easy, fun and stress relieving. Join us to create a simple basket using coiling cord and yarn. Class includes 18 feet of coiling cord, 2 needles and your choice of yarn. Please note that you will not be able to complete your basket during class, but will be provided with easy directions so you can complete your basket at home.

This class is designed to allow students to explore works of famous artists and some painting techniques that relate to them. Each week we will peruse and discuss the work of one famous artist and explore their art and approach to painting (5-15 minutes on the large screen). Next we will play with this approach by planning and painting our own pieces using prompts, examples, or items supplied for still lifes.This class is fun, educational, and hands-on and is designed to build community while simultaneously developing and improving painting skills. This class can be as simple or complex as the student desires. The focus is on experimentation and learning using acrylic paints.
Students will be able to take their pieces home and/or come to an open studio time on Tuesday afternoons to work on them.
All materials will be provided as well as a schedule of artists we will learn about. The artists in this series will be Monet, Kandinsky (his earlier, colorful work), Van Gogh, (and probably Matisse and Seurat).

Wear something that looks good with paint on it.
In each class we will look at a different style and brush technique, then try to imitate it in painting. First, we will draw (or transfer) the image, make a simple background, and begin to paint our subject. We will discuss each technique and when it works best in a painting (with lots of examples), and how to achieve them. This can be as simple or complex as the painter desires.
I will provide step-by-step instructions and have specific examples to follow, but personal exploration is encouraged.
We will play around with ways to use them effectively, first sketching or blocking on paper, then moving to canvas. We will use the new techniques to complete a piece of our own each week. Examples will be provided.
The class is limited to 5 students ages 16 and up. Basic painting supplies will be included (brushes and basic paint colors, canvas boards or an 11x14 canvas).
(Students have the option to use examples/subjects provided by the instructor to paint one simpler piece on canvas or canvas board each week OR to bring a more complex subject/image of their own and adapt it.

Alcohol Ink is a fun and innovative way to create with your imagination. Elevate new skills utilizing Alcohol inks and how they move differently on a prepared Canvas. The colors are vibrant and full of energy waiting to be sent into motion by your hand. Dress accordingly for covering clothing or bring an old apron if desired. No experience is necessary.
Alcohol Ink is a fun and innovative way to create with your imagination. You will learn different techniques to create a lovely tranquil water scene on 12 x 4” tile ready to hang. You will practice different methods before executing your masterpiece. The colors are vibrant and full of energy waiting to be sent into motion by your hand. Dress accordingly for covering clothing or bring an old apron if desired. All materials will be provided. Disposable gloves will also be provided. No experience is necessary.
Alcohol Ink is a fun and innovative way to create with your imagination. You will learn different techniques to create lovely scenes or abstracts. You will create a painting on both sides of the substrate so you can flip it over in your frame and enjoy 2 separate works of art at different times. You will practice different methods before executing your masterpiece. The colors are vibrant and full of energy waiting to be sent into motion by your hand. Dress accordingly for covering clothing or bring an old apron if desired. All materials will be provided. Disposable gloves will also be provided. No experience is necessary. Alcohol Ink is a fun and innovative way to create with your imagination. This class is designed for those who are ready to try their own project with guidance or simply wish to practice and elevate their alcohol ink skills. Instruction and guidance will be available throughout the sessions to help your vision become your work of art. Alcohol inks, 9 x 12 Alcohol ink paper, ceramic 12”x4” tiles and all needed supplies are provided, but you may also bring your own. The colors are vibrant and full of energy waiting to be sent into motion by your hand. Dress accordingly for covering clothing or bring an old apron if desired. No experience is necessary, but basic knowledge is helpful.
In this dynamic two-day workshop, you will explore ways to bring energy, movement, and expressive mark-making into your paintings. Together, we will embrace experimentation and cultivate a spirit of playful discovery. Through a series of guided exercises, you will create an expressive background. We will discuss composition and color theory. Develop your unique composition by working with a variety of water-soluble mediums and mark-making tools to expand your choices in how you approach your painting practice. We will create mood and atmosphere with oil paints.
We will be painting a Full moon with tree branches using acrylic paint on a 12x12 canvas. You can paint as many, or as few branches as you want, it's your own unique painting!
All supplies to create one painting are included. This is a fun but sometimes messy process, so please dress accordingly. Disposable aprons will be provided.
Learn traditional bookbinding and box-making techniques while creating your own handmade box. Because this class is designed to make the most of the lesson time by focusing on construction, covering, lining, and finishing rather than board preparation, we’ll use pre-cut book board.
You’ll learn how to accurately assemble and cover a rigid box, work with decorative papers and book cloth, create clean corners and edges, and achieve a professional finish. The class will introduce practical skills that can be applied to a range of bookbinding and box-making projects.
No previous experience is required. By the end of the class, you’ll have completed a beautifully finished handmade box and developed a solid foundation in traditional box-making techniques.
Materials needed:
Please bring yarn in the weight and colors of your choosing with a crochet hook that is the right size (you can see what hook is needed on the label of the yarn). I do not recommend going above weight 6 in yarn or below weight 3. Not sure where to start? I recommend starting with weight 4 and size H (5 mm) crochet hook. This can be bought at Michael's, Hobby Lobby, or Amazon. The brand Big Twist is a favorite of mine at Michaels. Please avoid bringing any yarn with textures since it can be difficult to use.
What to expect:
During the class you will learn the steps to create a practice swatch of this stitch. Once we are done with that, I can help you start a larger version of the swatch like a blanket for example. You will not have enough time to finish the larger piece during class. You will have enough time to practice the stitches and to start your project at a larger scale with visual demonstrations and a handout that you can take home with you.

A Still Life of Treasures and Memories
A positive Vanitas communicates gratitude, renewal, joy, or love using your very own personal items that evoke emotions and/or memories.
In this workshop, Carol Agnew will guide participants through creative interpretation—using their personal items to spark artistic exploration.
Her teaching encourages curiosity, experimentation, and confidence. A safe and creative space where each artist can discover their own voice.
Understanding Visual Grammar:
Learn how shapes, colors, symbolic items transmit messages to the viewer making the experience richer and more meaningful.
Altered Canvas is a great starting point for learning mixed media and assemblage.
We will be taking small stretched canvases and turning them around to create a great vignette using many different mediums and methods.
Open to teens and adults.
Learn to use recycled paper to “paint” this lunar landscape. You will learn how to make pulp and then apply it to a canvas to create a beautiful picture. You can copy the example or make your own composition.
All supplies will be provided by the instructor.

Let’s dream of Spring and make some Poppies! Learn to take tissue paper, and using a simple stripping coloring method, create a gentle ombre effect, to make petals. Then use those petals to create some beautiful flowers that you can put in a vase or incorporate into an assemblage project. Open to teenagers and adults
Want to learn how to upcycle paper to make your own paper bowl? This class show you how to prep your paper, how to make the pulp, and mold it into a bowl.
All supplies will be provided and each student will leave with a minimum of two small bowls.

Quilling is the age old art of rolling, shaping and gluing paper strips to create a decorative piece of art.
In this class you will learn to create basic quilling forms, then combine them to create tiny works of art. We will complete a bouquet of flowers for a greeting card and a sunflower pin. Then you will be provided with a tag and access to some simple patterns to create a gift tag of your choice. You will also leave with an easy snowflake pattern to complete on your own.
All supplies are included.

Learn the beautiful art of calligraphy.
Once you master some simple basic marks, you will be able to choose from several different alphabets to complete a simple quote for your finished project.
Class includes calligraphy marker, practice paper, tracing paper and handouts. Sample quotes will be available for inspiration or feel free to bring your own (keep it simple)!

The felted wool has antioxidant properties and acts as an exfoliant - and the pattern will last for the life of the soap!

Create a Simple Scarf or Cowl using Larger knitting needles and Chunky Yarn.
Teen - Adult
Bring: One pair of Size 11 Knitting Needles, 2 large skeins of chunky yarn - same or related colors (read the label for needle size 9-12). Small scissors, 2 thick rubber bands.
Knit only, no pearl. Beginners will use one strand of chunky yarn, search for smooth acrylic yarn with very little added texture, flecks of color and color shifting yarns are fine. Advanced Students may bring multiple colors of thinner yarns to color mix.

Create Hand Stitched Stuffed Toys
Teen - Adult
Bring: Two Soft complimentary color/patterned pieces of Fabric from clean used clothing or textiles, or new washed, roughly 18” square. If Possible Sharp Fabric Scissors, vintage buttons, scrap yarn, tassles, larger beads.
We will Supply: Needle, Thread, Polyfill Stuffing, Extra Fabrics, buttons, beads, yarn.
Learn how to create a simple Plush toy from creating a unique pattern to hand stitching, adding facial and personality details like eyes, mouth, earrings, hair and mustaches.
Duration: 2 hours
Channel your inner BOHO and learn to make small beautiful weavings without a loom. Learn how to pick the right stick, how to lash on a warp, and then learn to manipulate different colors of yarn for texture and shape.
Learn how to take a vintage photo and add texture and interest with hand embroidery (also called slow stitching). You will learn the techniques you need to use in order to take a skill that is traditionally done on fabric and do it on paper. No embroidery experience is necessary.

In these one-on-one lessons, I’ll work with you to discover how easy and fun it is to paint — really paint — on your iPad! The iPad is an exceptional tool because you only need a tablet and an Apple Pencil. No messy supplies, no set-up and clean-up. You can work from the comfort of your sofa or kitchen table! The Procreate app is a complete art studio for creating expressive sketches, luscious paintings, and so much more. It’s easy for a beginner to start using, and powerful enough for the professional artist.
What we will be doing:
In each one-on-one lesson we will work side by side on our iPads
We will go over the tools, so you are thoroughly comfortable with them
We will use them to draw/paint so we become familiar with how they work
The drawing/painting practices are simple and easy for anyone to do
We will learn the shortcuts and options for each tool
We will learn to import images as references or as part of the painting
We will learn to master the power of layers and masks
We will learn to create and customize brushes
We will learn to export a finished painting for printing
