Kitten on Pastelmat using Colored Pencils with Mandy
September 7, 14, and 21 from 3:00pm to 6:00pm
$125
This 3-week course will introduce you to creating a realistic looking cat by using colored pencils on pastelmat. Pastelmat is a paper made from cork grain that has a smooth and velvety touch. While created for pastel artists, many colored pencil artists have fell in love with this surface because it can handle multiple layers of color with ease, and it allows an artist to layer light colors over dark. This class will also teach students how to draw realistic looking fur and whiskers using a variety of strokes and methods. Although it is not required, it is highly encouraged that students first take Mandy's Beginner Colored Pencil Class before taking this class, as this class uses advanced colored pencil techniques. This class has a minimum requirement of 3 students to take place. If this class does not reach the minimum, you will be notified and refunded the class amount.
Supplies - As part of the class fee, students will receive a spiral bound workbook containing the steps for completing the kitten on pastelmat, a folder containing a line drawing of the kitten, a small piece of pastelmat for exercises that will be completed together in class, and a 6"x6" piece of pastelmat that will be used for the actual kitten project. This post will be updated no later than August 24 with the list of Prismacolor Premier pencils that students will need to bring for the class. In addition to the required pencils, students also need to bring a handheld pencil sharpener, an eraser, and an artist tote or clipboard.
