TOYS

This holiday season, we invite artists to rediscover the wonder, nostalgia, and joy that toys bring to our lives. From cherished childhood keepsakes to symbols of creativity and imagination, toys remind us of the warmth, generosity, and connection that define this time of year.

  • The emotional resonance of play and memory
  • The artistry of the objects we loved most
  • Reflections on giving, joy, and togetherness
  • Cultural or personal interpretations of holiday traditions
Let your art evoke the sparkle of a snow globe, the laughter of shared play, or the quiet comfort of a well-loved toy resting under twinkling lights.

Christmas Memories by Luanne Bole-Becker — an assemblage of a vintage color wheel, light box, and ornaments — was the inspiration for this show. When I saw the piece hanging in Lu’s space last year, I was unexpectedly moved. It carried me back to childhood Christmas mornings, to the feeling of playing with new toys while the world seemed to glow with possibility.
That moment made me think: Wouldn’t it be wonderful to fill an entire exhibition with art that sparks that same sense of joy, nostalgia, and warmth? This show grew from that idea — a celebration of toys, memories, and the simple magic this season brings.
