About Project Hope:
Project Hope for the Homeless is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that since 1993 has provided emergency shelter, care, and guidance to individuals and families experiencing homelessness in and around Lake County. We are located at 25 Freedom Road in Painesville Township and serve as the only emergency shelter in Lake County. In 2019, we served a record-high 476 guests including 71 children.
During our nearly 27 years of operation, we have served more than 8,000 guests and we have witnessed a multitude of life-changing experiences. Through a staff of more than 30 people, about 200 volunteers, and numerous supportive churches, businesses and organizations, Project Hope for the Homeless provides daily basic needs including a nightly hot meal and light breakfast and packed lunch if needed, showers and a safe space to sleep, as well as community resources for up to 50 individuals each night. Our guests work one-on-one with an experienced staff member, who helps them create and fulfill a goal-oriented program designed to meet each guest’s individual need. Last year, this individualized care helped 88% of all guests leave the care of the shelter for a better living situation.
