Mahouts - After college I spent a Summer with a student group from all over the world learning about different cultures touring India, and was humbled by the beauty and complexity of the people I met. I was sick during the trip to ride the elephants with their Mahout Guides, so I had to look up a reference to paint. Profoundly changed by the experience, I no longer dress in muted tones, figuring if they’re allowed to live in vivid colors, then I would too.
