Thursdays for three weeks: Sept 15, 22, 29 2022 12:30 - 2:30pm
Beginners 12 and over will learning the basics of a film camera including:
- types of film cameras
- how lenses work
- understanding light and movement
- loading film
In between weeks 1 and 2, students will explore the world around them by making images on a single roll of film. Here, patience and planning are your friend.
In week 2, we will develop the film negatives. This will take a little time and there are a bunch of steps we need to follow carefully.
In between weeks 2 and 3, the instructor will scan the negatives and place the images on a (student provided) USB drive
In week 3, we will have an art show and class critique of images, form, and light.
Inexpensive plastic cameras (no controls, so light and movement are very important!) will be loaned to the student. A single roll of film will be given to the student: the student will receive the images on their USB drive and the negatives in a special sleeve. The development chemistry will be provided by the instructor.
Students will provide the USB drive and optionally should have a mask (if one has sensitivities to chemical smells) and non-latex gloves. Patience, an open eye, and a lot of fun will fill in the rest of the supplies.
