Monthly Mixed Media Mandalas: with Christine
Mandala is a geometric figure representing the universe, based on a circle. Join us for a 2.5 hour session, for a time of creating, reflection, and discovery. Mandalas are used by the Tibetan monks and native peoples as a way to connect to spirit and be and express peace.
Each month we will create a mandala based on a particular theme.
April choices: showers, birthdays, unfolding, May choices: blooming, moms, migration.
No experience necessary, just the willingness to be expressive. All materials for your first session are provided, adding some embellishment of various forms for fun and joy. Come join us for the ahh moments. Square sizes will vary, no larger than 12” x 12”.
In April and May, we will explore basic mixed media techniques: watercolor plus ink in April and layers of media in May, to create a circular mandala-like design for relaxation and calmness.
We will start the class with a short grounding centering time. The rest of the class session is to create and embellish your fluid mandala with guidance. Also you may bring in your own items, photos, small found objects and small natural items.
Sign up for one month at a time and return throughout the year. Repeat participants welcome. Take a break for a reflective and creative time working with a variety of materials.

Coiled Baskets with Carol Leikala August 4th 1-3 & August 18th 1-2pm
Ages: Teen/Adult
Location: Classroom
About the Instructor:
I am a retired art teacher. I taught for Ledgemont Schools for 30 years and Berkshire Schools for 3 years. I taught primarily high school art. I loved my job. I loved my students. But, after 33 years, it was time to start a new chapter in my life. Now I am on a journey to discover my own artistic voice. I am a visual storyteller. I find inspiration in the quiet, simple moments of everyday life. These are the moments that speak to my heart. My art reflects the story behind these moments and my images are an invitation to share in that story. I am inspired by picture books, fairy tales and the music that became the soundtrack for my life.
I consider myself an illustrator, photographer, work with paper/book arts. I work with assemblage, glass, and coiled basket techniques.
Monthly Mixed Media Mandalas with Christine Aug 18th Friday 5-7:30
Only a few left!
Mandala is a geometric figure representing the universe, based on a circle. Join us for a 2 ½hour session, for a time of creating, reflection, and discovery. Mandalas are used by the Tibetan monks and native peoples as a way to connect to spirit and be and express peace.
Each month we will create a mandala based on a particular theme. July and Aug Choices choices: vibrancy, gardens, summer joy, playfulness No experience necessary, just the willingness to be expressive. All materials for your 1 st session are provided, adding some embellishment of various forms for fun and joy. Come join us for the ahh moments. Square sizes will vary, no larger than 12” x 12”.
July and Aug , we will explore mixed media techniques: watercolor, maybe ink, finger paints for embellishing, plus collage options with oil pastel. It is summer, so the medium is mostly up to you. If there is something you really want to work with ,please let me know. I will be sure to have some on hand and you can bring some of your own too. If you have special natural items or images you wish to use, please bring them along.
We will start the class with a short grounding centering time. The rest of the class session is to create and embellish your mandala with guidance. Also you may bring in your own items, photos, small found objects and small natural items.
Sign up for one month at a time and return throughout the year. Repeat participants welcome. Take a break for a reflective and creative time working with a variety of materials.
